Our Journey
From Haarlem Online to OnlineLabs
What started as a city portal in 2000 grew into a complete entrepreneurial journey. From Haarlem Online and Amsterdamonline to the founding of SEOlab in 2008, each step laid the foundation for what is now OnlineLabs: a full-service partner for digital growth and innovation.
Jan 2000.
Company established
The idea for Haarlem Online originated in December 1999, when we founded All About Internet. On May 1, 2000, Haarlem Online went live, and it grew into an innovative city portal that combined marketing, communications and ICT. With the arrival of Tom Broersen in 2003, we expanded to Amsterdam with Amsterdamonline. This period was not only a highlight for Haarlem Online, but also the foundation of my entrepreneurial journey, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2025.
Nov 2008.
SEOlab founded
In September 2008, I founded SEOlab, one of the first specialized SEO agencies in the Netherlands. As a pioneer in search engine optimization, I advised leading companies such as Royal Bank of Scotland, ROC van Amsterdam and Volkswagen. With daily, unique SEO tips on Twitter, I built a strong reputation, and SEOlab quickly grew into a trusted name in the industry. In addition to advising big names, I worked daily on the SEO of companies like AquaCell, Dutchlease and ContactCare. Not long after, we moved from Haarlem to Amsterdam, where the team was expanded with our first employees and we continued to realize our ambitions.

Start OnlineLabs
In January 2025, we marked a new chapter with the launch of OnlineLabs. Even before the corona pandemic, there were plans to change our name, but the perfect name remained elusive. As pioneers in search engine optimization, we grew into a full-service online partner, supporting clients with everything from SEO and web design to social media and online advertising. For years, our focus has gone beyond high rankings in Google; we develop complete digital strategies that help businesses grow and excel.
After countless brainstorming sessions and using insights from tools like ChatGPT, we finally found the name that perfectly reflects our vision: OnlineLabs – a name that stands for innovation, growth and customization. The road to securing the domain name was intense, but in the end we managed to anchor it. With the launch of our new identity, we are ready to help companies thrive in the digital world for decades to come.
